The second webinar in the OSAwards.eu webinar series, entitled "Open Source for Cybersecurity: Securing and Maintaining Europe’s Open Source Dependencies," will continue a compelling series of webinars focused on how open source and open hardware technologies can contribute to European digital sovereignty and competitiveness.
Webinar Description
This webinar will explore how Europe can better secure the open digital infrastructure that underpins its critical systems, public services, and digital economy. As more than 70% of modern software depends on open source components, the security and sustainability of these dependencies is no longer just a technical issue – it is a matter of acute public interest, with strategic and geopolitical dimensions.
From high-profile vulnerabilities like Log4Shell to systemic challenges in the funding of critical open source libraries, the conversation will highlight the urgent need to shift from reactive to proactive strategies. In doing so, it builds on recent calls – such as the Draghi Report, the Cyber Resilience Act, and proposals for an EU-wide Sovereign Tech Fund –to establish more coordinated European mechanisms for securing and sustaining the open source-dependent public digtal infrastructure which powers European society and the economies of the EU’s Member States.
Designed to be accessible to policymakers, industry, and technologists alike, the webinar aims to be both a wake-up call and a platform for collaboration. Participation in the webinar is free and it will also be livestreamed, but direct engagement and Q&A exclusive to registered participants. Be sure to register soon and secure your spot!
