Robert Kaye is the founder of MusicBrainz ( https:musicbrainz.org ), and Executive Director of the MetaBrainz Foundation ( [https://metabrainz.org](http://metabrainz.org) ), the non-profit organization that pays the bills for MusicBrainz and its sister projects. After studying Computer Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo he spent the dot com boom on EMusic’s FreeAmp team. While at EMusic he started working on MusicBrainz, the open music encyclopedia and fell in love with Open Source software. Today the MetaBrainz Foundation has a number of open source/open data projects including MusicBrainz Picard, ListenBrainz, BookBrainz and the Cover Art Archive.
Robert is also an active hardware hacker, creating mesmerizing light art installations, cocktail robots and other Burning Man inspired creations. He lives in Barcelona, Spain.
